Teresa Nelson

Teresa Nelson Ph.D. is a Professor at Simmons University Business School (Boston, Massachusetts USA) and a Principal of The Impact Seat, a research and consulting practice focused on entrepreneurship and inclusive innovation (www.impactseat.com). Nelson’s academic research on entrepreneurship is focused on pathways to growth, access to capital, pitching, strategic organizational design, and purpose and policy that supports the venturing of women, men of color and the LGBT community. Nelson was an Obama-era appointee to the National Women’s Business Council, taking a particular focus on women in science and entrepreneurship. She serves as Senior Director of Policy and Research for Astia, a global community of people, including investing angels, promoting women entrepreneurs. She is also a member of the Scientific Committee of Women Equity Growth, a project of venture capital firm Bryan-Garnier in Paris and was recently appointed to the Board of the Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association Global Ambassadors Program. Nelson has taught on 5 continents and has engaged intensely in China and in Europe. She holds an MBA and a PhD in business with a focus in strategic management.
