Class Descriptions

All Creative Studios classes are hosted on the MassArt campus.

Morning STUDIOS

Studios run Monday to Friday from 9am to 12pm.

Creature Design
Throughout history, monsters have been invented to give form to the unknown. Creatures of contemporary television, cinema, and literature can trace their roots back to the folkloric traditions inspired by the unexplained phenomena of our world. This class will help you to ideate, draw, and paint your own creatures. Guided by encouraging critique, you will work from thumbnails to finished pieces.

Drawing Fundamentals
Learn different tools and techniques to develop your drawing skills and expand your visual vocabulary! This class covers the basics of linear and aerial perspective, as well as a number of traditional and experimental approaches to composition and drawing.

Fashion Design
Learn how to reinvent your wardrobe! In this class, students explore hand sewing techniques and basic pattern making to deconstruct, alter, and combine garments into one-of-a-kind fashion pieces. Students will bring garments from their own closet to reinvent into something new.

Studio Explorations
Through drawing, hand-building, collage, and more, students learn to observe and explore the world around them. This class encourages students to adopt new styles of making and understand more about themselves as artists. This class will experiment with familiar and unfamiliar methods of art-making.
