Eco Art Experience
Immerse yourself in the magic of nature and art combined! Engage in exciting ways of making art as we explore the relationships between art and the natural world around us. Students will experiment with techniques that may include eco printing, sculpture, painting, and more! Come prepared to engage with nature, and to make beautiful works of art.

Grades 6 - 8

9:30am - 12:00pm

Studio Explorations
Through drawing, sculpture, collage, and more, students learn to observe and explore the world around them. Students will be exposed to work by contemporary artists, and classes will consist of live lessons and demos, independent work time, one-on-one critiques, and group discussions as students hone their own voices.

Comics and Characters
This studio class focuses on the art of sequential comics. Learn how to translate sketches into clear, dynamic and entertaining storylines. Focus on story structure and style, and find your own voice in the ever-changing world of comic art.

Grades 9 - 12

9:30am - 12:00pm

Painting
This class emphasizes color theory, composition, and traditional and contemporary painting techniques using acrylic paint. In working from imagination as well as from direct observation, students will refine their abilities as they explore how seeing is just as integral to painting as is applying the brush to canvas. The students will leave this class with a broad understanding of painting, opening the doors to further exploration. This class is open to all skill levels.

Scale it up!
Students will explore various methods of two-dimensional artmaking that may include drawing, painting, printing, collage, and more. They will gain an understanding of how different mediums intersect with one another in order to take on the challenge of filling the surface. They will have the space, support, and freedom to create large scale work of their own. Students will be exposed to work by contemporary and historic artists, engage in conversation with one another, and develop a uniquely personal final piece.

Printmaking
This class explores a variety of printmaking techniques including monotypes, collagraphs, relief and intaglio printing. Through this exploration, students will expand and shift their way of viewing and creating imagery by approaching artwork through the unique lens printmaking offers. Students will learn to work in reverse methods and in layers. Classes will consist of live demos and hands-on explorative learning. Artists of any skill level and experience are welcome.

Ceramics
Students will create with clay as they learn a variety of hand-building, sculptural, and wheel-working processes to make objects which explore narratives of memory, identity, and relationships. Surface techniques and image design on clay will be incorporated into the process of making. Contemporary artists that use clay to explore a variety of topics will be studied throughout the class. All skill levels are welcome.
