Use basic embroidery strategies to introduce aspects of value and the illusion of 3-dimensional space. Practice and be introduced to techniques, such as hatching, stippling and “shading” as ways to improve how you see and render light and gradations of light and depth in your embroidered drawings. We will discuss drawing techniques that can be directly applied to thread drawings as well as problem solve images students are interested in working from. Also discussed are topics related to working from photographs.
