Individual attention in a supportive environment is the focus of this seven week on-line/remote portrait drawing course designed for students of all levels and experience. The foundations of sound portraiture will be examined while drawing a variety of subjects in different views, including self-portraits and sitters where available. We will study the formal underpinnings of the human head, including the foundations of the skull, basic anatomical structures and proportions, as well as facial features and expression.  Additionally, we will consider the role of light and structure in revealing the topography and architecture of the head and how we make these legible by various drawing techniques and shading methods. Regular Zoom teleconferencing meetings, including instruction, group and individual critiques, digital slide lectures and demonstrations will be held. This non-graded course does not require homework.  Computer and Internet access required.
