Lens-Based Critique Lab: Photography is a critique-focused project development class for students working in all forms and genres of Digital Photography, all genres of digital photography, analog-to-digital practices, and photographic collage. The centerpiece of the class is a set of synchronous group feedback and discussions sessions focused on student work and work-in-progress. These are supplemented with 1:1 work sessions (which may include technical guidance), slideshows and screenings of relevant work, class discussions, and correspondence projects. Various approaches to critique are explored, and students develop language related to critical analysis of lens-based media work. Students of various levels and goals are welcome, as technical support is individualized and targeted to the skill level and interests of each participant. This is a project-based rather than an assignment-based course; students should begin the class with a current body of work-in-progress at any stage of development.
