This online course features the following types of interaction:

  • Live meetings
  • Live critiques

In this online course students will learn the basics of oil painting including paint mixing, palette construction, brush techniques, canvas/board preparation, safety measures, and more. Students will also learn the foundations of painting’s visual language like color, composition, texture and hierarchy. Over the course of the term students will work from long-term still-lifes they are prompted to set-up in their home and return to during each Zoom class session. Each session will begin with a brief painting exercise meant to loosen up the artist’s hand and provide an opportunity for experimentation with mark and expression. The remainder of the session will be dedicated to close observation and skill-development.  Individual feedback will be provided during each session as students work to improve their paintings across multiple sittings. No prior painting experience is required. Beginners are welcome.

This online class uses the ZOOM platform.

There will be one additional class to be arranged.
