Stephanie Dowdy‑Nava

Stephanie Dowdy‑Nava is a visual artist, an arts administrator and educator, science muralist, social entrepreneur, and co-founder of ART±BIO Collaborative and the Science Murals Initiative, an ongoing public art initiative for communicating and visualizing science. She holds a BA in Studio Art, Advanced Teaching Certification in Visual Arts, and an MA in Arts Administration, with over a decade of experience in science communication, community engagement, and interdisciplinary education. She directs Field Studies of Art+Nature, teaches Art and Art Education at JK–College levels, and designs and leads ArtScience outreach and public engagements in community, school, nonprofit, museum, university, and international settings. Dedicated to making art and creating accessible educational opportunities, she engages diverse communities, promotes curiosity, and creatively explores the intersections of science learning and artmaking. She leads mural projects and mentorships and is a recognized advocate for inclusive science engagement and bilingual community outreach that is culturally relevant and that connects people to the natural environment through the power of visual imagery. She is working to transform how the public engages with science and who gets to participate and see themselves represented in Science and Art.
