Kate Teale
Kate Teale was born in England and moved to New York for graduate studies at CUNY Hunter College, in 1995.
Kate showed with Studio10 Gallery and has been in group shows at John Molloy Gallery, Monya Rowe, Jim Kempner, and Gallery Ho in Chelsea, NYC, and at The Boiler; Bushwick Basel with Valentine Gallery; Storefront; Sideshow and Schema Projects. Her work can be seen at Pierogi Gallery flat files. She currently has solo shows at Smack Melllon, NYC and the University Art Gallery, Sewanee TN.
Kate has received NYSCA/NYFA Fellowships in Painting 2008, and in Drawing in 2023, a Joan Mitchell Foundation artist grant in 2013, and a subsidized studio space as part of the Two Trees Cultural Space Subsidy program 2019, and 2023. She has written feature articles for the UK art magazine Contemporary Art, and curated shows.
Kate’s first exhibition in the US was in DUMBO – at Main Window in 1992. She exhibited there again last year and has shown at other DUMBO venues, Undercurrent and Platform.
