John Rego

John Rego is a painter and illustrator with experience in editorial, fine art, narrative, and book cover illustration. Primarily working in acrylics or digital media, his work is inspired by absurdism, surrealism, reportage illustration, and scientific illustrations. Rego’s work is often satirical in nature, and depicts chaotic exaggerations of the world at large.

His client list includes The New Yorker, New York Times, Plansponsor, Rhode Island Monthly, and Penguin Random House. In the past year, he has shown at Superchief Gallery (New York, NY), Site Brooklyn (Brooklyn, NY), Dodomu Gallery (Brooklyn, NY), City Hall (Jersey City, NJ)  and World’s Fair Gallery (Providence, RI). In addition, John will have an upcoming solo exhibition at Dryden Gallery in Providence, RI. John has received his BFA in illustration from Massachusetts College of Art and Design, and his MFA in illustration from the School of Visual Arts. Originally from Rhode Island, John is based out of Jersey City, NJ where he lives and works.
