Hampton Smith

Hampton Smith is a doctoral candidate in the History, Theory, and Criticism of Art and Architecture at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Their research focuses on the art, material culture, and architecture of the Black transatlantic world in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. They are working on a dissertation titled, “Making under Slavery in the Black Atlantic World,” while editing Thresholds 51: Heat, MIT Architecture’s peer-reviewed journal.
