Brittonie Fletcher

Brittonie Fletcher is an artist and educator back in Boston after fifteen years in Scotland. Her practice sits within new materialism, DIY culture, and wet photography, using materials and processes as conceptual agents for engaging social and political questions. Her work spans historic and alternative contemporary photographic practices, grounded in a precise, process-led approach to image-making first developed in the darkrooms at MassArt, where she learned to think through chemistry as much as through images. She is a featured artist in Focal/Routledge’s The Alternative Photographic Processes series (three volumes) and is included in collections such as the National Library of Scotland and the Preus Museum, Norway. Her teaching and exhibitions span the US and UK, and ask what photographs and photographic materials do in the world.
