Shape Ideas into Finished Pieces. Develop your skills in handcraft woodworking and machine techniques while creating original works. Work hands-on in MassArt’s state-of-the-art woodshop and join a vibrant community of makers. The following courses are open to anyone. Students can start with a single class to learn new techniques, experience the program, or make it the first step toward their certificate. Classes can be applied toward the Furniture Design Certificate.

Fusing design activities and methodologies, including aesthetic sourcing (visual, literary, emotional, and structural) and drawing and modeling, participants engage in design as a problem-solving process. Projects emphasize the development of conceptual visualization through the exploration of two- and three-dimensional sketch techniques.
