This course covers the basics of using ink and mixed media to explore the abstract and expressive possibilities of this versatile medium. Discussions will center around the work of abstract expressionist artists and their focus on freedom of expression through spontaneity and exploration of wet media. Techniques such as wet-into-wet, wet-over-dry, and masking will be discussed as well as the various types of inks, brushes, and watercolor paper that can be used to create works that will surprise both artist and viewer alike.
