Discover the fun of traditional woodworking in this beginner-friendly, three-day Shaker-style box workshop. This hands-on class will take you step-by-step through the process of building your own classic oval Shaker button-box. Over the first two days, you’ll learn how to bend thin strips of wood using steam or hot water, secure them with copper tacks, and fit the top and bottom with precision. On the third and final day, we’ll explore options for finishing and further customization with milk paint and simple additions. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced woodworker, this class offers a rewarding opportunity to develop your fine woodworking skills and leave with a pair of beautiful, functional heirloom boxes.

This class meets in person at MassArt.
