Lens-Based Critique Lab is a critique-focused project development class for students working in Digital Lens-Based Media, including Photography, Digital Collage, and Digital Time-Based Media. The centerpiece of the class is a set of synchronous group feedback and discussion sessions focused on student work and work-in-progress. These are supplemented with 1:1 work sessions (which may include technical guidance), slideshows and screenings of relevant work, class discussions, and correspondence projects. Various approaches to critique are explored, and students develop language related to critical analysis of lens-based media work. Students of various levels and goals are welcome, as technical instruction/support is individualized and targeted to the skill level and interests of each participant. This is a project-based rather than an assignment-based course; students should begin the class with a current body of work-in-progress at any stage of development.
This online/remote class uses the ZOOM platform.
