Manga refers to comics and graphic novels originating from Japan. This course will explore the historically distinct and influential style of manga, from its development in the 19th century to its evolution into the vast and versatile storytelling form it is today. This course will allow students to identify the common stylistic qualities and conventions of manga in order to utilize them in their own graphic storytelling practice. Students will have the opportunity to improve their artistic and visual storytelling skills while creating their own original manga pages.
