This hands-on course teaches the basics of letterpress printing. Learn how to set metal and wood type and how to operate the four presses. Image-making methods, ink handling, print tools, paper handling, and multipass printing will be demonstrated. Students will be encouraged to consider the design inherent in  working within the limitations of the process and materials at hand. Topics include typography, page layout, and color.

Students can expect to complete small editions and monoprints of their explorations by the end of the course.
