An introduction to the basic glassblowing techniques used to make vessels and sculptural forms. Throughout the course, progressively more difficult assignments teach new concepts and develop students’ skills. Group glassblowing clinics encourage teamwork. Historical and contemporary glass techniques, designs, and applications are discussed and incorporated into student work. No previous experience in glassblowing is required.
Class meets 8am-4pm as follows:
Week 1, Tuesday through Saturday, Jan 2-6
Week 2, Monday through Thursday, Jan 8-11
