Flameworking and Fusing

FLAMEWORKING: This workshop introduces the art of flameworked glass. Demonstrations and hands-on lessons teach the foundational skills and knowledge needed to form molten glass at the torch. Projects and demonstrations are geared towards learning basic techniques as well as creative methods to utilize flameworked glass in studio practice. Demonstrations and lessons include: torch, kiln and tool use, basic glass chemistry, color use, solid sculptural techniques, and more.

FUSING: In this workshop, we will cover the basic principles and techniques used to create flat fused glass panels (no larger than/roughly 6-8″ square), as well as small assembled sculptures made using clear flat glass, sandblasted designs, & UV-cured adhesive. We will cover the basics steps and techniques used to cut and arrange flat sheets of colored glass into a panel, which will then be placed in a kiln to be sent up to fusing temperature. What we’ll get as a finished piece is a roughly 1/4″” thick panel with a shape/pattern/color of your own design!
