In this three-day workshop, you will learn how to use a a variety of tools to burn nuanced and expressive drawings into wood. Whether used to decorate furniture with designs, to create architectural installations or to complete large scale drawings, pyrography has been a method of drawing for eons. The class will cover safety, tool types, toxicity issues, alternatives to wood, use of color, and of course, drawing techniques through the use of various pen types. Participants are also welcome to bring a small piece of pre-sanded furniture to the workshop (no chemicals, paint removers or wood preparation please).
Early registration is recommended for on-campus classes. Please check massart.edu (see link on the upper right corner of the page) for current COVID protocols.
