For students who want an intensive day-long studio experience that provides individual instruction. Students work within a continuum from realism to abstraction, and formal concerns are emphasized and tied to personal expression. Includes use of the model. Class critiques, slide talks and field trips enrich the painting experience. Some painting and drawing experience is helpful, but not required.

MASSART BFA STUDENTS Please seek departmental approval if you want to use the credits for this course toward your major.

This on campus class meets with the instructor Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 9am-5pm.  Students are expected to work in their assigned studio spaces (assignments will be made on the first day of class, June 6).  Open studio time is Monday – Friday (no weekend access) when the college is open from 7am-11pm.  MassArt BFA students, please contact your department chair to be sure you have permission to take the summer class.  Others should have some drawing and painting experience.

We urge you, if you are able, to be fully up-to-date on vaccinations, including boosters. Available vaccination sites can be found here.
