Ryan Banfi
Ryan Banfi recently received his PhD in Cinema Studies from The Martin Scorsese Cinema Studies Department at New York University Tisch School of the Arts. He is a Hispanic Scholarship Fund Scholar and on the Games and Culture editorial board. Ryan’s first book is forthcoming from the University Press of Mississippi. It focuses on Chris Ware’s comics. His writing has been published (or will be) in Critical Inquiry, Journal of Cinema and Media Studies, ImageTexT, Design Issues, Jump Cut, Contexts, Journal of Graphic Novels and Comics, Television & New Media, New Review of Film and Television Studies, The International Journal of James Bond Studies, Games and Culture, Game Studies, Mediapolis, Flow Online Journal, Studies in European Cinema, The Strong National Museum of Play, In Media Res and the edited books Latinx Fandoms (The University of Arizona Press, forthcoming), Navigating Imaginary Worlds: Wayfinding and Subcreation (Routledge, 2025) and Theology and The Last of Us: Violence, Ethics, Redemption? (Rowman & Littlefield Press, 2024). He teaches film, TV, games, and comics studies at Emerson College and MassArt.
