Behnaz Monzavi

Behnaz Monzavi is a painter and printmaker based in Boston. Originally from Iran, her work draws on Persian miniature traditions to explore themes of identity, resistance, migration, and women’s rights. She blends traditional techniques with contemporary approaches in painting, printmaking, and mixed media, often incorporating symbolism, narrative, and sculptural forms to express personal and political experiences. Behnaz recently earned her MFA in Painting and Printmaking from the Massachusetts College of Art and Design, where she also served as a Teaching Assistant in both painting and printmaking courses. Her practice is deeply rooted in storytelling and social engagement, and she is passionate about education, mentorship, and community-building through the arts.
