Basic requirements to take a class are an internet connection, computer, and an internet linked camera (like a cell phone). Most classes will be hosted through Zoom or MassArt Moonami. This online course features the following types of interaction:

  • Live meetings

A survey of the craft and form of furniture over the past 50 years. Topics include the development of styles and their sources, as well as the evolution and organization of furniture manufacture, from early joinery to the emergence of cabinetmaking techniques, to the development of machine technologies, and the re-emergence of craft within the studio furniture movement as well as the emergence of hybrid manufacturing and the impact of the effects of globalization on the craft and industry of furniture making.
