In this studio shop course, students initiate and are guided through a hands-on design/build project based on fundamental tenets of furniture design. The course begins with a review of design fundamentals and the concept design process. Concepts are refined through additional drawings and maquette model making as preparation for completion of the final product. This class will also be open to students outside of the certificate program with experience in basic hand tool use and maintenance and working with standing machine power tools. Prerequisite: Projects in Wood, Fundamentals of Machine Woodworking at the North Bennet Street School, or equivalent experience

All levels welcome.
