Continuing education classes are being taught remotely. Studio classes have live remote meetings. Basic requirements to take a class are an internet connection, computer, and an internet linked camera (like a cell phone). Most classes will be hosted through Zoom or MassArt Moonami. This online course features the following types of interaction:

Exploring changing conceptions of the individual in modern society. Topics include gender, race, ethnicity, and ideas concerning society, culture, work, and leisure. Readings are selected from psychology, sociology, Buddhism, existentialism, linguistics, anthropology, and popular literature. While we focus on the experiences in and of the modern West (including the implications of new technology and science for the self and identity), we also compare and contrast these experiences with those of other cultures and epochs.

Michael Pak is a historian who specializes in intellectual and cultural history. He has a PhD from Harvard and now lives in Korea, where he is Associate Professor and Dean of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences at KAIST (Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology).
