Through a series of collaborative and individual exercises, students explore the entire process of making a book, including inspiration for initial ideas, writing effective stories, character development, sequential flow, constructing the book, and researching potential markets. All course lectures and exercises apply to children’s books, graphic novels, animations and other narrative sequential image projects. Experimental 2D and 3D image making approaches are encouraged. The goal is for each student to make a book dummy that is ready for submission to a publisher. Drawing experience is required.
