An introduction to relief printing, exploring woodcut and related processes. Of all printmaking techniques, relief printing is the most ancient. It is a process characterized by an appealing directness of making an image and by the simplicity of its graphic and expressive qualities. In this course, participant learn how to carve and create bold compositions using both traditional and experimental relief techniques. Participants explore color woodcuts an reduction methods using proper registration and practicing hand printing.
