Fall 2020 continuing education classes are being taught remotely. Studio classes have live remote meetings. Basic requirements to take a class are an internet connection, computer, and an internet linked camera (like a cell phone). Most classes will be hosted through Zoom or MassArt Moonami. This online course features the following types of interaction:

  • Live meetings
  • Live critiques

This remote course looks at how to create and appreciate abstract works of art. We will consider various art-historical origins for abstraction such as DADA, Surrealism, Abstract Expressionism and Conceptual Art as jumping off points for various studio projects. These projects offer ways of exploring geometry, gesture, expressivity, structure and process in non-objective image making. Digital resources such as slide presentations, artist interviews and virtual museum tours supplement studio work.
