This two session workshop gives students a broad understanding of the field of industrial design as well as hands-on experience to understand the fundamentals of design process, research, concept sketching, presentation and fabrication.
Students will be exposed to design thinking methodology, and how it informs the industrial design process. The course will discuss user experience, human factors, creative problem solving, concept development, aesthetics, and presentation. The course will also discuss the industry of industrial design and relevant education and careers.
Between the two sessions, students will be asked to develop design work of their own based on in-class exercises and prompts to gain first-hand experience of the design process.
