This is an introduction to transforming the static image into dynamic time-arts. A wide range of expressive motion is explored through hand drawn animation principles such as ease-ins, anticipation, and pose-to-pose actions. Through a series of short exercises and projects, the visual phenomena of cycles, timing, transformations, sequential structure, along with the integration of sound is examined and implemented. This is a studio class that also emphasizes hand drawn animation screenings from historical to contemporary perspectives. The use of a digital still camera application and current editing software, including Adobe Premiere, After Effects, and Photoshop, is introduced and merged with the traditional animation production process.
