Continuing education classes are being taught remotely. Studio classes have live remote meetings. Basic requirements to take a class are an internet connection, computer, and an internet linked camera (like a cell phone). Most classes will be hosted through Zoom or MassArt Moonami. This online course features the following types of interaction:

This is an advanced sound course utilizing Cycling 74’s Max (MaxMSPJitter). Topics will include algorithmic composition, generative music, advanced sequencing, live sampling, granular synthesis, tracking amplitude and frequency, effects using fast Fourier transform (pitch shift, vocoder), mapping MIDI to MSP, creating MIDI and OSC interfaces, and basic color processing and tracking with Jitter. Students should have Max installed on their computer.

Students should have a solid general knowledge of digital audio concepts and substantial prior experience with Max.

Judy Dunaway is an internationally known composer and multimedia artist. She holds a PhD in Music Composition from Stony Brook University, where she studied primarily with Director of Computer Music Dan Weymouth and multimedia artist Christa Erickson. She has an MA from Wesleyan University where she studied experimental music composition with Alvin Lucier.
