This course builds upon students’ existing digital photography skills, with the goal of cultivating a personal vision and photographic style through increased technical competence. Topics covered include advanced-level DSLR operations (focus and metering modes, interval timed shooting, and tethering), honing of the digital image workflow, image sequencing, and the fine print. Through technical demonstrations, exploration of contemporary trends in photography, digital lab work sessions, and critiques, students will develop a personal project, culminating in a body of prints or print-on-demand book. All students should have a DSLR camera, previous experience with shooting in manual mode (aperture, shutter speed, and ISO), and a basic knowledge of raw image processing.
