This online course features the following types of interaction:

This remote course looks at how to create and appreciate abstract works of art. While the course is a follow-up workshop to “Intro to Abstraction,” each project is a standalone experience, and does not require that you have previously taken the introductory course. Over the term, we will consider various art-historical origins for abstraction such as DADA, Surrealism, Abstract Expressionism and Conceptual Art as jumping off points for various studio projects. These projects offer ways of exploring geometry, gesture, expressivity, structure and process in non-objective image making. Digital resources such as slide presentations, artist interviews and virtual museum tours supplement studio work.
James Lambert is an artist specializing in painting, sculpture and paper-making. His work has been exhibited internationally, and was most recently published in New American Paintings, the New England edition.
