CDGD319 Introduction to Computer DesignCOURSE DESCRIPTION Discover the synergy between Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign with course work based on a real-life project. Each program is approached as a specialized tool: Illustrator for digital illustrations and web graphics; Photoshop for editing images and creating special effects for web, broadcast, or print design; and InDesign as a desktop application. Also reviewed are the challenges of producing "best practice" formatting solutions for seamless integration of graphics creation and desktop publishing applications, and the protocol for saving work from Macs to PCs. Topics include resolution, color correction, retouching, sharpening, and file preparation for both print and web using Adobe Photoshop and Bridge. In-class exercises and demonstrations with sample files will be covered as well as a basic introduction to file management and Mac OS X for students new to the digital studio. Students learn the program’s 2D/3D parametric modeling features and complete a simplified small-scale design project, then progress to the basics of 3D computer modeling and rendering in architectural projects.
